In India, there are many religons in our country. Such as Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christian, Buddhism,Jainism etc. Two of the world’s greatest religions, Hinduism and Buddhism, were born in India. Hinduism is India’s major religion, practiced by 80% of the population. The Hindus make their pilgrimage to the River Ganga. Varanasi is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India. Although most Hindus would like to bathe in the Ganges during their lifetime, to be cremated here is considered to be an instant route to heaven. The Sangam is where the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers meets the invisible Saraswati river, in Allahabad. This meeting point is believed to be holy and have special soul cleaning powers. It is an important pilgrimage Place, and is the scene of the annual Magh-Mela (Mid. January/Mid. February). Every twelfth year the Magh-Mela becomes the Kumbh Mela, when the annual thousands of pilgrims in the temporary, tented township, swell to over a million. The some buddhism pilgrimages are following:

Gaya :

The river does carry water during the monsoon, although during the winter the bed is dry and holes have to be dug to extract a little water for the rituals. The Nepalese pilgrims who make it to Varanasi, tend to follow on to Gaya. To offer funeral cakes, or pindas, here is believed to free their ancestors from bondage to the earth.
Bodh Gaya :

There are curious parallels between the controversy over the Babri Masjid, in Ayodhya, and the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya. Lord Buddha was claimed to have attained enlightenment, at nearby Bodh Gaya. The sacred Bodhgaya tree here is said to be a direct descendant of the original tree under which the Buddha meditated. This attracts the curious Westerner to try it for themselves.Inside the Mahabodhi Temple, below a 50 metre-high pyramidal spire, is a large gilded image of the Buddha. So India is a large destinatin of pilgrimage tourism and holidays. There are many pilgrimage destinations like Jama Masjid, Taj Mahal, Kumbh Mela, Jagannath puri, Chardham Yatra, Bodhgaya, Golden Temple etc because of there are many religions in India.

Tourism of India is dedicating due to an increase in foreign tourists arrivals . The visitors are coming from all over the world: Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia. As same as the number of Indians traveling has also increased. India is probably the country that offers various categories of tourism like adventure tourism, ayurveda and Yoga Tourism, history tourism, beach tourism, spiritual tourism and Honeymoon tours etc. India offers the variety of adventure opportunities for tourists and travellers. From the white water rafting on the Ganga, from hang-gliding and ballooning over the Indian plains to camel-safaris in the vast Thar Desert of Rajasthan; Indus or Teesta to heli-skiing in the high Himalayas; from chasing the elusive tiger on the backs of mighty elephants to trekking in the Himalayan ranges - the choices are endless and amazing. The main feature about the Himalayan tourism is that traveller has the option of enjoying adventure activities. If you travel to Kashmir you can indulge in trekking, travel on horseback, go trout fishing in its rivers or enjoy in a little bit of skiing or water sports in its transparent lakes. skiing has put India on a pedestal in Asia. Skiing in India is less expensive compared to anywhere in the world. The three states that boast of providing trainer for skiing are Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The facility for Heli-skiing can be availed of at Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Water-rafting, kayaking and canoeing on the Ganga are becoming popular day by day.

With yoga, meditation, ayurveda, India offers a unique destination of services. You can also avail the benefits of Ayurvedic Medicine in India. India is the birthplace of this 5,000-year-Yoga science. Ayurveda is the system of traditional medicine in India. The many Ayurveda resorts in India are located in various scenic locations of the country, from Ananda in the Himalayas to the many resorts in the backwaters of Kerala.

India is also a country of monuments. But some incomparable monuments that form an integral part India’s historical heritage are, the epitome of endless love - Taj Mahal, the mighty Mughal citadel - Agra Fort, the glorious island caveland of Lord Shiva - Elephanta; the Axis of Islam - Qutub Minar, the pride of free India - Red Fort, the Chariot temple of the Sun God - Konark, the cave site of numerous Chaityas and Viharas - Ajanta, the grand memorial of an Emperor - Humayun’s tomb and last but not the least, the forgotten walled city of Fatehpur Sikri.

The Travel and Tourism industry depend heavily upon travel expenditures by foreigners and travellers as a source of taxation and as a source of income for the enterprises that sell (export) services to these travellers. Consequently the development of tourism is often a strategy employed either by a Non-governmental organization or a governmental agency to promote a particular region.

This is one of the few temples in India which allows people of other religious faiths to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Some ancient texts such as Puranas and Alwar hyms assert that attaining mukti (bliss) in Kali Yuga is only possible through the grace of Lord Sri Venkateswara. Lord Venkateswara or Balaji is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself. It is believed that he came to reside on the southern bank of Swami Pushkarni, a tank which passes by Tirumala.
The seven hills around Tirumala-Tirupati are also known as Sapthagiri after the seven hoods of Sheshnag – the cosmic serpent.

The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara is located on the seventh peak, Venkatadri Hills on the southern banks of Sri Swami Pushkarini. Because of this reason, Lord Balaji has been named Venkateswara.
